In this interview, we sit down with director Renee Marie Petropoulos to discuss her new short film Souvenir, which is premiering at SXSW. Renee talks about the inspiration behind the film, the themes she wanted to explore, and the creative process of bringing the story to life.

She also shares what it was like crafting a short film for the festival circuit, collaborating with her cast and crew, and preparing Souvenir for its debut at one of the most celebrated film festivals in the world.

Synopsis: Summer, 2008. Keira has spent the last two weeks holidaying with her family and girlfriend Zoe on a tropical resort up the coast. Although both deep in the closet, the girls take any opportunity to hook up around the resort; Keira is hungry for Zoe’s attention. But during the heat of sex, Keira is startled by a flash, she finds Zoe taking photos of her with her digital camera. Zoe urges Keira to let her continue and she reluctantly agrees. In the aftermath, Keira is unsettled. Unable to articulate what’s happened and struggles with Zoe’s tenderness and charm. But as her family gathers at a beach bonfire for a final drink, Keira decides to finally break Zoe’s hold over her.

Stars from The Last Starfighter reunite to celebrate new comic series

Lance Guest and Catherine Mary Stewart attended a fan meet and greet at the Big Alpaca Comics shop in San Antonio, TX this past July but this event was a little different. Comic book publisher Mad Cave Studios had just released issue #1 of a brand-new comic series based on the ’84 film and they also republished the prior film adaptation.

Lance and Catherine couldn’t have been more thrilled to be a part of a new comic series and even took the time to discuss everything from behind-the-scenes moments to a potential new project.
