COMICPALOOZA | HOUSTON TX, MAY 26-28

HAPPY FRIDAY GEEKS AND GEEKETTES! If you haven’t purchased your passes for Comicpalooza yet…. “Houston we have a problem”

Space City is hosting it’s premiere Comic-Con this month with an ALL-STAR line-up including, Stephen Amell, Chad L. Coleman, Alaqua Fox as well as WWE Stars Mick Foley and Lita (personal favorite) but that story is for another day. The important thing is we all get a chance to meet amazing Actors, Voice Actors, Illustrators and more.

There are few nostalgic feelings we remember that stand above the rest. The feelings of LAN party’s on XBOX CRUSHING mountain dews and playing Halo with the team, or the Carpet and Popcorn smell of a Blockbuster…. The good news is Comic-Cons give us the best of both. I can’t think of a better feeling than walking into a convention center and scoping all of the merchandise and taking pictures with cosplayers across all my favorite genres.

The good news is we are just a few short weeks away from one of the best events in Houston.

It’s all taking place at the George R. Brown Convention Center. Doors to the exhibition floor open on Friday at 3 p.m. allowing shoppers to peruse the exhibition floor while programming panels, special attractions and other lively activations take place throughout the venue. Then, after its successful debut last year, the CP Friday Night Bash amps up the fun with more entertainment and music kicking off what’s sure to be a memorable weekend. Saturday and Sunday will be no different with enlightening panels, diverse local and national exhibitors, stellar guests, and special attractions like the Itasha Showdown which is a fun car show themed out with all your favorites and so much more.

Passes can be purchased at the link below. Come see me and other Geekcasters in person all three days!

This past weekend at L.A. Comic Con Jessica Alba, Robert Rodriguez, Frank Miller, and Kadir Nelson joined the likes of Guillermo Del Toro, Doug Chiang, Queen Latifah and George Lucas on panel stages expressing full support and endorsement of the LUCAS MUSEUM OF NARRATIVE ART set to open in 2026.

The Museum was founded by George Lucas and Melody Hobson, designed by renowned architect Ma Yansong of MAD Architects and is currently under construction in an 11-acre campus in Los Angeles’s Exposition Park.

Robert Rodriguez on the L.A. Comic Con stage gave high praise to his friend and mentor George Lucas to what is commonly known in the industry as “Lucas Foresight” highlighting the many times Lucas was ahead of the Hollywood curve with his many creations, inventions, and techniques which are all a standard today including Digital filmmaking which Rodriguez’s best known work, SIN CITY fully incorporated into a box office success. Rodriguez did cheekily mention how an impromptu SIN CITY panel was happening with Alba moderating and Frank Miller as one of the panelists. Also Rodriguez revealed the museum would be revolving every 6 months with different art pieces!

“The only museum you are gonna want to go see” – Robert Rodriguez

At both presentations at the two Comic Cons it was emphasized art from all eras from cave paintings, oil paintings, comic strips, watercolor, comic books, sculptures, murals, photography, book and magazine illustrations, and digital media will be on display.

The museum itself is a flowing piece of art comprised of 300,000 square feet of expansive galleries, two state-of-the-art theaters, dedicated spaces for learning and engagement, retail, dining, and events.

On the Comic Con stages the message was clear. This is the people’s art which is for everyone to visit, be inspired, and share in the great experience that is art from all across human history no matter what medium.

At San Diego Comic-Con 2025, George Lucas made his first-ever appearance to highlight the upcoming Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, set to open in 2026 in Los Angeles. Moderated by Queen Latifah, the panel focused on the museum’s mission to celebrate storytelling through comics, illustration, film, and other narrative forms. Joined by Guillermo del Toro and Doug Chiang, Lucas shared a first look at the museum’s unique design and vast collection, calling it “a temple to the people’s art.”

About the Lucas Museum:

The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art believes illustrated stories connect us and reflect the shared beliefs that create community. Co-founded by George Lucas and Mellody Hobson and set to open in Los Angeles in 2026, the museum has a collection with rich holdings of works by illustrators including Norman Rockwell, Jessie Willcox Smith, Kadir Nelson, Beatrix Potter, Maxfield Parrish, and N. C. Wyeth; comic artists including Winsor McCay, Frank Frazetta, George Herriman, Jack Kirby, Chris Ware, Alison Bechdel, and R. Crumb; and much more. Additionally, the museum is the holder of the Lucas Archive, which includes props, models, concept art, costumes, and more, that span the full extent of Lucas’s filmmaking.

The building is designed by renowned architect Ma Yansong of MAD with assistance from US-based architecture firm Stantec. It sits in Los Angeles’s Exposition Park on an 11-acre campus that includes expansive new green space designed by Mia Lehrer of Studio-MLA. The 300,000-square-foot structure will feature galleries, two theaters, a retail store, a library, a café, a restaurant, as well as event spaces.

SDCC 2025 is just over a month away and we are looking back at our favorite moments from last year. Here are the best moments from our time at San Diego Comic-Con 2024.

Xolo Mariueña took his Lone Lobos podcast on the road to SDCC but we were lucky enough to get a short tease prior to the release of the final season of Cobra Kai.

After concluding his Transformers One Hall H panel, Chris Hemsworth sent fans into a frenzy when he started an impromptu signing.

There wont ever be another Hall H panel as terrifying as Alien Romulus. Chaos ensued when SDCC attendees were attacked by a swarm of face-huggers.

Ben Walker who plays King Gil-Galad on The Rings of Power, serenated fans with a song in elvish.

Not only our favorite moment of 2024 but perhaps of all-time. Robert Downey Jr is revealed as Doctor Doom by the Russo Bros and Kevin Feige on the Hall H stage.

Colin Ferrell talks about becoming Penguin for his HBO Max series.

Keanu Reeves and the BRZRKR team announce a new Netflix project!

Tyler Hoechlin played an amazing Clark Kent but that wouldnt stop him from one day getting to play the Dark Knight!

The drone show to end all other drone shows. Marvel lights up the sky with a Deadpool and Wolverine drone show spectale.
