A Terrifying New Player to Enter the Horror Game Industry
The production company Blumhouse will venture into video games.
The same production company behind “Paranormal Activity”, “M3GAN”, and the recent “Halloween” trilogy has announced that it will launch ‘Blumhouse Games‘ which will partner with indie companies to develop low budget horror games. Leading the new division will be industry veterans Zach Woods as President and Don Sechler as CFO.

“For some time, we have been looking to build out a team to start accessing the growth opportunity in interactive media,” said President of Blumhouse Abhijay Prakash. “When we sat with Zach and Don, they articulated an approach that resonated with Blumhouse’s model, and we knew it was a perfect place for us to start our push into the interactive space.”
Future projects are said to be across consoles, PCs as well as mobile devices. It will be interesting to see if Blumhouse will first look to develop games based on their long list of tv and film projects or if they will seek to create new IPs that could eventually turn into future content for their tv/film division. Is there a Blumhouse film franchise you have wished would be made into a video game?
There’s no shortage of fan made games based on horror franchises. One of the more recent games, HALLOWEEN Part III, was created by fan Stefano Cagnani and has several entertaining playthrough streams you can find on YouTube and Twitch.
The demand for high quality games based on horror IPs is there and it’s up to Blumhouse to deliver. The possibilities are endless.
